Welcome to Downtown San Diego

Founded in 1850, downtown San Diego serves as the cultural, financial and business center of San Diego County. The area consists of eight districts across one square mile of land and hosts a unique mix of modern and historical architecture. The 1980’s and 90’s brought a revitalization period to San Diego that transformed the landscape of downtown into the thriving cosmopolitan city that we love today.

Attracting conventions on a near-weekly basis such as world famous “Comic-Con”, there is never a shortage of visitors eager to take in the many sites and marvels of the city.
